Educational Multimedia Research Centre (EMMRC) in the Jai Narain Vyas University, Jodhpur a production and research centre for educational films for UGC-CWCR, has received national recognition for its contribution in the field of electronic media. The Center is fully funded by the University Grants Commission and it is an organization with well-equipped studio and highly trained staff.
The AVRC project (Now Educational Multimedia Research Centre) was sanctioned by the UGC in the year 1986. Since then the centre has been actively engaged in producing Educational TV films. On the basis of the performance evaluation, the UGC upgraded the Centre from AVRC to EMRC (Educational Media Research Centre) in 1991, which became EMMRC (Educational Multimedia Research Center) in September 2004. After producing the first film namely “DESERT BATS” in the year 1987, the EMMRC never looked back and has produced 3219 Educational TV films (both in Hindi & English taken together) of various subjects including Science, Commerce, Arts, Education, Literature, Culture, Folklore, Humanity, Medical Science, Engineering etc.
The Centre possesses the foundational value, knowledge base and the resources needed to embrace change and cope-up with the future. Based on our two and a half decade leadership in media, we see the future as an opportunity to restructure, consolidate and build upon our national and international reputation in media studies and accordingly it would be our endeavor for achieving academic, aesthetic and artistic excellence in the fields.
The centre has been assigned with the responsibilities of running an independent channel of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India under Swayam Prabha plateform, under the nomenclature “SWAYAM PRABHA DTH Channel – CEC-UGC 03, Social and Behavioural Science.” This DTH channel is broadcasting a high quality, visually and graphically enriched content in the subject categories of Anthropology, Sociology, Public Administration, Political Science, Social Work, Psychology, Women studies and Population Studies for the benefit of the undergraduate and post graduate students of India.
Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) for Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) are the demand of the time, and EMMRC Jodhpur has been assigned the production of Under Graduate and Post Graduate MOOCs which for the future education is an essential and integral part of the education dissemination.
